In a continued effort to support Ukrainian refugees across Europe, 22 European telecommunications operators, including major players like Telefónica, Orange, and Vodafone, have extended their agreement with seven Ukrainian telecom companies to facilitate affordable connectivity.

This initiative, initially launched in 2022, ensures that refugees can access lower-cost roaming and international call rates, helping them stay in touch with their families and access essential digital services. The agreement includes discounted SIM cards, extended free roaming periods, and enhanced cooperation between European and Ukrainian networks.

With millions of displaced people relying on mobile services to maintain social and economic stability, this move is seen as crucial in mitigating the impact of forced migration. The European Commission has praised the industry’s efforts, urging further collaboration to support refugees in the long term.

The telecom operators reaffirm their commitment to providing connectivity solutions for migrants and displaced communities, reinforcing the role of mobile technology in humanitarian aid and social inclusion.
